SeedMN (State Elections Empower Democracy in Minnesota) is an all-volunteer, grass-roots political giving circle and community. We focus on electing pro-democracy, state legislative candidates and advocating for democracy and policies that address citizen needs and concerns at the state level.
Founded as an affiliate of The States Project, our mission is to bring like-minded members together in community and empower them to effectively donate funds and time to elect state legislators who share our values and advocate for laws and policies that protects and improves lives in Minnesota.
We pool and deploy ‘smart money’ and ‘smart action’ in common cause, as a community, and in ways that are efficient, effective and maximize the impact of members’ time and treasure.
SeedMN - helps members donate ‘smart’ money and time to Minnesota state legislative campaigns.
We identify and focus on strong candidates in the most closely contested districts. These candidates are vetted to ensure they share our values and commit to – and follow through on - conducting efficient, effective campaigns that utilize specific evidence-based strategies & tactics (e.g. candidate door-knocking, in-person events, etc.).
SeedMN - empowers members to undertake impactful advocacy that helps advance state policies and legislation aimed at protecting and improving lives and the environment in Minnesota now and for generations to come.
SeedMN Vision/Values: We value the preservation and strengthening of our democracy. Our efforts are in helping to elect Minnesota State Legislators who will work for Minnesotans to protect our rights and place a priority on doing what is best for the common good.
Advocacy Matters: Supporting good candidates is the first critical step toward our goals of improving lives, the environment and democracy in MN. The second is making sure our ‘electeds’ pass legislation to turn those goals into reality. That’s where advocacy comes in. Elected officials face lots of pressure from constituents and lobbyists. If we want good legislation passed (and bad stuff opposed), we must let our representatives know, thank them when they do the right thing, and civilly express our dismay when they don’t. Together, our voices will make a difference.
